
PLANS to pay for councillors to be trained in how to use the social networking site Facebook have been slammed as a waste of taxpayers money by the prospective Conservative MP for Bolton North East.
The proposals have been submitted to Hazel Blears, Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, by the Councillors Commission, a QUANGO set up by the Government.
Deborah Dunleavy said: At a time when Council services in Bolton are being cut back due to a lack of money, many people will be outraged that the Government is considering training in how to use Facebook. Im on Facebook and I didnt need training and neither did the other 60 million people who use the site.
