The Shadow Foreign Secretary will join Deborah Dunleavy on Thursday to launch a petition calling on Gordon Brown and his fellow Labour MPs to honour their election pledge and hold a referendum on the EU Treaty.
Commenting Deborah Dunleavy, Prospective Conservative MP for Bolton North East said "I am delighted that William is able to join us for the launch. Politicians have a duty to honour any election pledge that they stand on and unfortunately only the Conservative Party are honouring theirs when it comes to the EU Treaty."
The petition comes after many Labour MPs and Liberal Democrats supported the European Amendment Bill on Monday. This was despite the Commons Foreign Affairs Committee accussing Ministers of understating the impact of the reform treaty on British Sovereignty, particularly in foreign affairs.
