Labour MPs must put constituents above party politics on post office closures

Commenting on the approach of the opposition day debate on post office closures this Wednesday,  Deborah Dunleavy the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Bolton North East said
'We know which Labour Ministers and MPs are against post office closures – we will see on Wednesday the true extent of their conviction.
Alan Duncan The Shadow Secretary of State for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform put the Labour rebellion down to "the power of argument overcoming the power of their whips".

And he attacked those Labour MPs who had campaigned to support Post Offices in their own constituencies, but then "done a runner" when they had a chance to make a real difference.

Alan Duncan said
‘It is all well and good Labour MPs issuing warm words but now we have a chance to act together to save our post offices. Their constituents would simply not understand how they could say one thing locally, and then not vote in support of saving their post offices when given the chance.

Hundreds of thousands of people will be badly let down if MPs put party politics ahead of the concerns of their constituents.'

Ms Dunleavy went on to say ‘I am very disappointed that David Crausby MP voted for Post Office closures in Bolton North East. The people of Bolton rely on not only the precious services they offer, but in many places the vital part of the community they play. Not everybody is able to travel 3 miles to access one. We should be helping the Post Offices offer more services rather than closing them down.’
