Thank You For Voting Conservatives

Many thanks to all who voted Conservative yesterday - it was a great day for Conservatives throughout the country.

We scored around 44% of the vote nationally, with Labour only polling 24% their worst share of the vote for decades, coming in just behind the Lib Dems.

Here in Bolton, although it remains in no over control with Labour marginally the largest party on the council, had it been a General Election, the Conservatives would have had two MPs - both myself and Susan Williams in Bolton West.

I'm really pleased as the Conservative vote, in Bolton North East has significantly increased on 2007 and Labour's has fallen.

In 2007 we polled a total of 10,927 compaired to Labour's 8735.

This time we have increased our vote to 12,376 compaired to Labour's 8228.
Last year we lost Brieghtmet - this year we won it by a majority of 514 votes - well done to Arthur Norris and all who worked so hard on the campaign.

Also well done to Nigel Ford in Tonge with the Haulgh, who cut the Labour majority to 180 from 632 last year. Nigel is sure to take this seat next time!

We increased our vote in every ward, going from a 260 deficit to a 514 majority in Brieghtmet. Hard work and a clean campaign by the Conservatives paid off, and is sure to do in Tonge next time.

Also well done to Shahid Mahmood in Halliwell, who also increased the Conservative vote by 115 and Johnny Partington in Crompton.

Alan Wilkinson in Bromley Cross romped home with an increased majority as did Hilary Fairclough in Astley Bridge and Walter Hall in Bradshaw.

So well done and a big thank you to the many people who helped in all aspects of the campaign. Next stop General Election!
